Logic School
Seventh Grade Requirements
English Grammar and Literature: This course seeks to enrich students’ understanding of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and composition. Along with this, all types of literature—novels, plays, poetry, and essays—will be read and discussed.
History: Junior high history classes are combined. Students study American history one year and world history the next year. Both courses focus on implementing a Christian worldview of history. Along with a textbook, both courses include readings to supplement the understanding of historical time periods and cultural issues.
Science: Junior high science classes are combined. Students study life science one year and physical science the next year. Veritas is committed to teaching science from a Creationist worldview. Our science classes also provide opportunities for students to conduct experiments, learn about scientific methods, and become aware of current trends and advances in science.
Mathematics: Seventh graders take a pre-Algebra course. We are currently using the Saxon math curriculum.
Latin: Students, both those who have had Latin and beginners, take an introductory class in seventh grade.
Bible: Junior high classes are combined in Bible. Our Bible courses consist of New Testament and Old Testament surveys. Besides reading the Scriptures, students learn about the geography and culture of the Bible. Study skills in doctrine, exegesis, and application are also emphasized. Supplemental books are assigned to further Christian thinking.
Music: This year all Veritas secondary students will be taking music two days a week. Music will consist of vocal training, choir performances, music theory, and music appreciation.
Physical Education: All Veritas secondary students will take physical education classes two days a week. The uniform policy describes the proper P. E. clothes. Students unable to take P. E. on any given occasion must still report to the teacher for an assignment.
Eighth Grade Requirements
English Grammar and Literature: This will be the first year Veritas has had separate courses for 7th and 8th grade English. This upper level course is designed to help transition junior high students into high school students. It will require higher levels of grammar and composition skills and provide more challenging readings.

Latin: Eighth graders are adequately grounded enough in Latin to begin using Wheelock’s Latin. This book is commonly used in classical schools and some colleges.
Bible: Junior high classes are combined in Bible. Our Bible courses consist of New Testament and Old Testament surveys. High School Requirements – Rhetoric School
Freshman Requirements
Mathematics: Ninth graders follow up their previous Algebra course with taking either Geometry or Algebra II.
Logic: All students are expected to take a course in Formal Logic. Currently this course is offered to ninth graders. The course of study includes both categorical and prepositional logic.
Science: Ninth graders study biology for science.
Latin: Students continue working through Wheelock’s Latin in ninth grade.
Humanities: All high school grades take Humanities together.
Music: All Veritas secondary students will be taking music two days a week. Music will consist of vocal training, choir performances, music theory, and music appreciation.

Sophomore Requirements
Mathematics: Tenth graders take either Geometry or Algebra II.
Rhetoric & Worldviews: Tenth graders began their study of Rhetoric and also begin a more in-depth study of worldviews with particular emphasis on Christian use of Rhetoric and the development of Christian worldview thinking.
Science: Tenth graders study chemistry for science.
Latin: Tenth graders will be taking Advanced Latin, along with Eleventh graders.
Humanities: All high school grades take Humanities together.
Music: All Veritas secondary students will be taking music two days a week. Music will consist of vocal training, choir performances, music theory, and music appreciation.

Junior Requirements
Mathematics: Junior can either repeat Algebra II to improve proficiency or take Advanced Math.
Rhetoric & Worldviews II: Eleventh graders will continue their study of Rhetoric and focus upon an in-depth study of worldviews with particular emphasis on Christian use of Rhetoric and the development of Christian worldview thinking.
Science: Eleventh graders study physics for science.
Latin: Eleventh graders take Advanced Latin. This involves more translating work.
Humanities: All high school grades take Humanities together.

Senior Requirements
Mathematics: Seniors may take Advanced math or Calculus.
Rhetoric & Senior Thesis: Seniors will do research and writing in order to present their Senior Thesis before both a panel and guests. This course is devoted to the development and pursuit of a topic and the background research. Students will choose a panel of examiners to hear and evaluate their conclusions. Presentation of the Senior Thesis is the capstone of our classical education program.
Science: Seniors will be taking physics this year for science.
Latin: This year seniors will be taking a Latin designed for their particular needs and achievement level.
Humanities: All high school grades take Humanities together.
