Other Types of Giving

As in most private schools, tuition alone does not completely cover the cost of educating the students. To fill the gap, Veritas runs several fundraisers every year. Some are ongoing, and others are seasonal. Please support the work of Veritas Academy by supporting our fundraisers.

GoodSearch.com

GoodSearch: You Search...We Give!

Before you perform an Internet search, stop by www.GoodSearch.com and enter "Veritas Academy (Texarkana, AR)" in the charity box. For each search you perform, our school will earn a little over one cent! The more people who search for our school, the more our school will earn, so pass the word and search for Veritas! You can even download a search bar directly onto your home page; just visit their website and found out more. You may also want to see GoodShop.com, associated with GoodSearch, a conduit to many online shops. These shops have dedicated a portion of their profit to certain non-profit groups like Veritas. For every purchase made through GoodShop, a percentage will go to Veritas.

BoxTops for Education

Clip those Box Tops! Each one is cash for our school. Not only does each boxtop you clip earn us $0.10 each, but the website has opportunities to win more. The more people we have join, the more chance of winning. Turn in your Box Tops to the main office.

OneCause.com

One Cause is a website that allows common online purchases to be made, with a profit going to the school of your choice. Veritas is enrolled in this program; if you need to purchase something online, please go to OneCause.com first and dedicate your purchase to Veritas Academy.

Wills and Memorial Giving

Giving to Veritas Academy through estate planning is a wonderful way to leave a gift in memory of a loved one or for a specific purpose. Whatever your reasons, they should be personal and seasoned with prayer. There are several ways for you to make a charitable bequest through your will. Please check with your attorney, accountant, or financial advisor for advice on the various methods available to you.

Matching Gifts

Our school has the perfect opportunity to double the impact of your donations. Many companies, both large and small, match the gifts of their employees and retirees. We suggest you ask your company if they have a program of this type and how to access it. The development office will be compiling a list of the area companies who do this, however, you may begin the process by asking your personnel department if your company matches gifts, and obtaining their matching gifts form.

Gifts of Stock and Other Appreciated Assets

The IRS allows a taxpayer to deduct the fair market value of non-cash assets given to Veritas Academy. This allows a taxpayer to legally avoid the payment of taxes on the difference between that which he paid for the asset and the current fair market value. You can even give stock, get your tax deduction for fair market value, and immediately buy the stock back; thereby avoiding the payment of capital gain taxes and still own the stock. Your accountant or financial advisor can more fully explain this process to you.

Automatic Withdrawal of Pledged Gifts

More and more of us are paying our utility and mortgage bills via automatic withdrawal from our checking accounts. If for any reason we are away on vacation or otherwise unable to access our checkbooks on the right days, we can still satisfy our obligations on a timely basis. It is now possible to do the same thing with your pledged gifts. You can arrange a monthly deduction from your account and not have to worry about remembering to write your monthly pledge gift to Veritas. Call the school office for more information about automatic withdrawal.

IRA and 401-K Gifts to Veritas

If you are 70 1/2 or older, the IRS requires you to take money out of your retirement accounts and pay tax thereon, even if you do not want to. Now the IRS will allow you to transfer stock and other assets from your retirement accounts to the school, the fair market value of which counts as the required distribution according to their rules, but you do not have to pay any income tax. Ask your accountant or financial advisor for more information.

Veritas Academy is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization.
