Enrollment Process

Enrollment Check List

I. Admission Procedures:

A. Upon return of a completed application and family application, if an interview with the family has not already been held, one will be arranged with the appropriate principal.

B. After the interview, and after reviewing all other required materials (as stated on the application form), the principal will make the decision whether or not to admit the student(s). An Entrance Test may be necessary for a better evaluation for grade placement of the student(s).

C. The principal will then notify the parents in writing with the decision regarding acceptance. If accepted, the parents will receive an Acceptance Letter and a Transfer of Records form, if the student attended another school previously.

D. All financial arrangements between the family and the school must be understood before an admission is considered final. Tuition schedule

E. Financial aid is awarded to families based on need. To be considered for financial aid, each family must complete a confidential application to our financial aid advisory agency, FAST. Families must complete a new application yearly; financial aid is not automatically renewed. Applications are available at the school office, or families may apply online at www.ismfast.com.

F. The new family is expected to attend the New Family Orientation held at the school during an evening normally in mid August.

II. Admission Requirements for the Student:

A. A child must have reached the age of five years by October 15 of the fall in which he would be entering kindergarten.

B. A child entering first grade must have reached the age of six years by October 15 of the fall in which he would enter Veritas Academy.

C. If a child has successfully completed the previous school year and his schoolwork and behavior compare favorably to the comparable grade at Veritas Academy, the child will likely be placed in the grade for which he is applying. However, if through the administration of an Entrance Test or other evidence, it is determined that the child may not be adequately prepared for the next sequential grade level, it may be necessary that he repeat the previous grade.

D. The child should understand that his parents have delegated their authority to the school. Therefore, he is subject to the instruction and discipline of the teachers and principal in their prescribed roles at Veritas Academy.

E. In general practice, if the student and parents comply with the requirements outlined here, Veritas Academy will admit students of any race to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally made available to all students. Veritas Academy does not unbiblically discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, or national origin in the administration of its policies, admissions, scholarships, and other school-directed programs.

III. Admission Requirements for the Parents:

A. Though not required to be Christians, the parents of students in Veritas Academy should have a clear understanding of the biblical philosophy and purpose of Veritas Academy. This understanding includes a willingness to have their child exposed to the clear teaching (not forced indoctrination) of the school's Statement of Faith in various and frequent ways within the school's program.

B. The parents should be willing to cooperate with all the written policies of Veritas Academy. This is most important in the area of discipline (see Discipline Guidelines and School Rules) and schoolwork standards, as well as active communication with the respective teacher(s) and administration.
